Background - The Bay Hill Community outside Orlando, between DisneyWorld and NBC Universal was established in the 1970's. Our home was constructed in the mid 1970's and we've been owned our home for over 30 years.
No community is perfect. We've had lawless neighbors for a decade that perpetually blocked our driveway, used our front yard as their party parking lot, once they removed our main electrical panel door and tapped our electricity to power their home. Once, the same neighbors told a friend to tie their boat to our seawall and then they abandoned the boat.
On one occasion, the Bay Hill Lodge rented a house across the water from us to a drunk member who proceeded to use the property for some unauthorized purpose. He was so drunk he became paranoid our surveillance system was recording him, he drove to our house and attacked me with a knife. He was convicted.
More often than not, we are awakened to the loud roar of street racing vehicles at the community. Residents are perpetually speeding through the community. A major event is going to happen.
None of this is deemed by the Board to be their concern. Instead, the Board elects to target the older homes with notices of non-compliance for discolored concrete, a few blades of grass growing in the gaps of the cement driveway, or the paint finish on the garage door.
In general terms, in the 30+ years we've been living in Bay Hill this is the worse it has been.
We are not leaving the community. As bad as the conditions are in the community, we will remain. We love the lake, the convenience, and many of our neighbors. If we were to move to the area today instead of 30 years ago, and I read the above, I would pass on Bay Hill. It's become a second rate community.
To resolve our concerns, we will use this site to communicate with the Bay Hill POA since the property manager does not respond to electronic communication.
